<P>Dear TREES-people,</P>
<P>Event listed below.</P>
<P>Biodiesel, if you are not familiar, is a fuel made from vegetable oil for use in diesel engines. In fact, Rudolf Diesel designed the diesel engine to run on peanut oil, and the petroleum conglomerents shifted the market to favor their products.</P>
<P>Also, the Ecology Center in Berkeley keeps a running schedule of local ecological events and things of interest. URL: <A href="http://www.ecologycenter.org">www.ecologycenter.org</A>, click on Eco-Calender to check, or to get on their list-serve.<BR><BR>Peace, Sarah</P></DIV>

<DIV></DIV>>Biodiesel 101 - A Clean, Homegrown, Alternative Fuel
<DIV></DIV>>------------------------------------------------------------------------
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>Join us for a panel discussion about one of the most exciting
<DIV></DIV>>alternative fuels today, biodiesel. Like other plant-based
<DIV></DIV>>alternative fuels, biodiesel vastly improves emissions, is produced
<DIV></DIV>>in the US - reducing our reliance on foreign oil - and is a part of
<DIV></DIV>>a more renewable energy scenario. Best of all, biodiesel is
<DIV></DIV>>available NOW, and can be used in any existing diesel engine with no
<DIV></DIV>>modifications. There will be a presentation by a panel of users,
<DIV></DIV>>homebrewers, and distributors, followed by a discussion with you,
<DIV></DIV>>the audience. Bring your questions!
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>Topics include:
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>*What you need to get started using biodiesel
<DIV></DIV>>*Differences between bio and petrodiesels
<DIV></DIV>>*Where to buy it, or where to learn how to make it
<DIV></DIV>>*Sustainable and community-scale biodiesel production
<DIV></DIV>>*Cooperatives, upcoming events, biodiesel activism, and other
<DIV></DIV>>community projects
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>This event is a project of the East Bay Biodiesel Internship, a
<DIV></DIV>>homebrewer co-op.
